I found the primary sources workshop to be extremely helpful! I left class with more knowledge about the wealth of resources available to me through the Library of Congress. I love that there is so much information for teachers about specific lessons and units on a multitude of social studies topics. I don't know if it was necessarily helpful for my History Assignment, but I am so glad that we had the opportunity to go because I feel more confident knowing all that is available to me as I enter the teaching profession.
I think my favorite aspect of the primary sources workshop was when we did the picture investigation activity. I thought it was helpful the librarians gave us the opportunity to be the "student" and conducted the activity as how we could teach it in our future classrooms. The workshop was helpful in that the librarians gave us resources and the ability to explore how we can search for primary evidence when we are teaching.
I loved this workshop because it empowered us to be able to implement teaching history from primary sources. We have learned so much about rethinking how history is taught and this workshop has given me the tools to start doing it! I also loved how this website can be used by both teachers and students to investigate the history we thought we knew!
I thought the workshop was great! I loved how fast paced and interactive it was: we were constantly moving through the website and not getting hung up on details. They showed us resources that we can use in our teaching careers and that is always helpful.
I loved the workshop! It taught us so much about how effective the Library of Congress website can be for helping us find primary sources. Before taking the this class, I tried to use this site, but it was not nearly as effective. The lessons will also be a great resource to look back on when we start teaching in our own classroom.
I really enjoyed this workshop. I think that I will be using this website a lot in the future when I am a teacher. I thought that they did a really good job presenting the information. There was a lot of information to share and they moved along at a good pace. I liked the website so much I came home and shared it with my friends who are also studying education.
I really enjoyed the workshop. I did not even know this resource was available, so learning how to use it and navigate the website was phenomenal. I think that is a great resource that I will be able to take into a classroom with me. I think it served me perfectly! I had no questions or concerns about how to use the website at all.
I think the workshop was helpful. I have never explored the library of congress before the workshop. I think my favorite part about the workshop was learning about all the resources for teachers on the library of congress.
i loved the website that they gave us!! it was so useful and i found my primary source right away. They easiest way was to google search it and then advanced search the www.loc.gov.
